WirelessCabin - Development and Demonstrator of Wireless Access for Multimedia Services in Aircraft CabinsThe project has developed wireless access technologies for the aircraft cabin, which will enable passengers to use several different technologies, including UMTS, Bluetooth, and W-LAN. The infrastructure includes:
A demonstration campaign was carried out in commercial long-haul aircraft (Airbus A340) via a GEO satellite link. TriaGnoSys was responsible for the WP 3200 Satellite Segment Roadmap. The aggregate cabin traffic was calculated using a multi-service model for multimedia services. Potential satellites were selected. The asymmetric bandwidth demand in forward and return link directions was considered, taking a combination of several satellite providers into account.
